With reference to your letter of the 30th of

October forwarding copy of a letter from the Managing

Director of the Straits Steamship Co. Ltd. regarding

the construction at Hong Kong of 2 steamers for the Siam Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., Bangkok, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state, for the information of Mr. Secretary Bonar Law, that they are informed that the Straits Steamship Co., control the traffic for which the vessels are being built and therefore it does not seem necessary to raise any objection to the vessels, when completed, being placed under the Siam-

ese flag.
